ASHLAND, OH: The Walsh Cavalier Track and Field program competed in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Indoor Championship Meet this weekend. With many Cavs on the bubble of potential qualification to Nationals, the weekend had huge implications. Sophomore,
Joel Brown, absolutely dominated the competition winning two G-MAC titles in the long jump and heptathlon. Coming in he was already ranked #1 in DII in the heptathlon but in addition, he set a meet record with his score of 5370. His championship performances also secured Brown Athlete of the Meet and All-Conference First Team.
Brody Pumneo (800m),
Tatum Miller (weight throw), and Bella Graham (5000m) all had podium finishes in their respective events, each finishing 3rd.
In the team scoring, the Walsh Men finished 6th out of 10 teams while the Women finished 6th out of 11 teams.
The Maroon and Gold will now wait until Tuesday when the NCAA releases the DII National Championship qualifiers. The Indoor National Championships will take place on March 13th and 14th.
