Box Score NORTH CANTON, Ohio - One game after setting a program record for a winning streak, the Walsh Cavaliers women's basketball team had their winning streak end at the hands of the Cedarville Yellow Jackets on Saturday (Dec. 19) afternoon at Alumni Arena.

The short story: In a game featuring the two best scoring offenses in the G-MAC, Cedarville jumped out front in the early going, taking a nine-point lead at one point. Walsh erased that nine-point lead to take a two-point lead into halftime, 35-33. Between the second and third quarters, Walsh and Cedarville traded the lead six times and had seven ties before Cedarville used a 15-0 run over 5:01 of the third and fourth quarters to stop the Cavaliers at home.
OPENING TIP
- Mayci Sales led the way with her third straight double-double and 18th of her career. Sales scored a career-high 28 points on 12-of-24 shooting. The senior went two-of-four from three point land and the free throw line. Sales also grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked three shots on the day.
- Sha Carter scored 14 points in 24 minutes with five field goals and four free throws.
- Abby Hickey gave the Cavaliers 11 points off the bench, her third straight game with ten or more points. The redshirt freshman made a trio of three pointers.
- Megan Ball had eight points, seven rebounds, two blocks and a pair of steals in 37 minutes.
- Lexie Scarton finished with eight points, six rebounds and four assists.
THE DIFFERENCE
- Cedarville made 16 three pointers in 23 attempts while Walsh struggled from deep, going five of 25 in the game. Entering Saturday, Walsh opponents were shooting .179 (12-67) from behind the arc.
BEHIND THE NUMBERS
- Walsh had 40 rebounds total in the game, including 15 offensive boards. The Cavaliers have grabbed 15 or more offensive rebounds in all games this season. Sales, Scarton and Ball all had four offensive rebounds each.
- For the fourth straight game, Walsh outscored their opponent in the paint, scoring 46 points in the paint. Walsh's scoring output in the paint was a season-high 64.8%.
- The Cavaliers set a season-high with six blocks.
NOTABLE
- Walsh's 26 game winning streak covered 383 days since the first win of the streak at Edinboro on December 3, 2019. The last loss for the Cavaliers was 390 days ago, a 94-86 loss at Ashland last November.
- Two other streaks ended for the Cavaliers on Saturday as the 30 game conference win streak and 27 game home win streak were broken. The last home and conference loss was against Davis & Elkins on January 26, 2019.
