DETROIT, Michigan - After knocking off the #2 seed Wayne State Warriors on Thursday (May 19), the Walsh Cavaliers baseball team turned to face the #3 seed Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars at Harwell Field on Friday (May 20). 

Walsh was dropped to the survive and advance phase of the tournament with a 14-1 loss to the Prairie Stars. 

Illinois-Springfield scored in five of the first six innings, opening an 8-0 lead before Walsh broke through in the run column. After Joey Holiga doubled for the second time, the Cavaliers scored on a RBI single by Jarret Lyon. The Prairie Stars closed the game with a four-run eighth and a pair of runs in the ninth. 

Holiga doubled twice in a three-hit day. Lyon added two hits and plated the only run for the day. 

Walsh will return to action on Saturday (May 21) in the loser's bracket final at 11:00 AM.
