WOMEN'S LACROSSE LOCKS IN FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON ON THE ROAD

AMHERST, NEW YORK- The Walsh University Women's Lacrosse team secured their first win of the 2023 season in New York against Daemen University. The reigning G-MAC Champions are now 1-2 on the season. 

LOCATION: Amherst, New York

SCORE: Walsh 21, Daemen 2

RECORDS: Walsh (1-2), Daemen (1-1) 

FOR THE CAVALIERS:
  • The Cavalier offense went on a terror in both the first and seconds quarters of the game. 
  • Scoring a total of 14 unanswered goals, a slew of Cavs connected to the back of the net.  The Cavs went into halftime with a 14-0 lead.
  • The second half's offensive pace continued with the Cavaliers scoring 7 more goals and Daemen only connecting on 2.
  • Pacing the Cavaliers in scoring for the day was Katie Coomes
  • Coomes connected on a collegiate career high 6 total goals for the Cavs.
  • The fifth year standout, Lindsay Hindman, tallied 4 goals for the maroon and gold.
  • Hindman shot a perfect 100% from the field. 
  • Melinda Maers scored 3 goals in the win. 
  • Maers also had 1 ground ball and 2 caused turnovers.
  • Isabella Kelty, Grace Santee and Rachel Black each had 2 goals. 
  • Sequoia DeLeu and Chloe Tatlow both added 1 goal. 
  • Kathleen Mendenhall allowed no goals and recorded 5 total saves.
  • Rebekah Bargeron had 4 saves for the Cavs.
The Maroon and Gold travel to IUP on Tuesday(March 7th) at 4:00pm.
