(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - Ben Truax (Sr., Mansfield, OH/St. Peters) scored twice as Walsh (1-0) shutout Urbana University (0-2) 4-0 at Milazzo Field today. The whitewash was also the first win for new head coach John Hall.
Truax scored his first goal at the 3:39 mark of the first half to give the Cavs a 1-0 lead.He scored on a breakaway, with the assist to Jordan Semple (Jr., North Canton, OH/GlenOak). It was the only goal of the first half.
Semple then gave the Cavs a 2-0 lead at the 51:02 mark on a breakaway on a pass from Truax. Adam Greenwood then put Walsh on top 3-0 on an assist from Nathaniel Milhoan (Sr., Hartville, OH/Lake) at the 80:01 mark. Truax then added the final tally 55 seconds later as he took a pass from George Moga (Sr., Akron, OH/Springfield) outside the box, then lobbed over the head of Urbana goalie Darragh McGinley.
Walsh outshot the Blue Knights 19-9. Cavs' keeper Mike Kelley (Jr., Chagrin Falls, OH/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) turned back two shots in recording the shutout.
The Cavs host Aquinas College on Friday night at 6 pm.
