Box Score

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – It was all Mercyhurst as Walsh couldn't find an answer for the No. 9 Lakers in an 18-4 defeat at Vasco Field on Tuesday evening. The Cavaliers drop to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the ECAC. The Lakers, last season's national runners-up, are now 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

Mercyhurst started the game with the first five goals scored and lead by that 5-0 margin after one quarter of play. The Cavs eventually scored the first goal of the second quarter as Alex Hudgens (Fr., South Lyon, MI/HS) put one by the netminder on an assist from Mason Axline (Sr., Green, OH/HS).It would be the last goal the Cavs scored until over halfway into the third quarter. By that time Mercyhurst led 12-1.

In addition to Hudgens, Nicholas Castorf (Fr., Holbrook, NY/Sachem), Bryan Crim (Fr., Reading, PA/Exeter), and Ben Stephens (Sr., Murrysville, PA/Franklin) all scored goals for Walsh.

The Cavs return to action in a conference game at Lindenwood on Saturday. Face-off is set for noon in Missouri.
