Box Score (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – A late rally wasn't enough to overcome visiting Alderson-Broaddus as Walsh lost 12-9 in ECAC action at Vasco Field Saturday afternoon. The Battlers (1-3, 1-1) used a third quarter outburst to take control of the game. The Cavaliers (1-3, 1-1) closed out the game with five consecutive goals.
After AB scored the first goal of the game, Walsh answered with a pair of goals by Alex Hudgens (So., South Lyon, MI/HS) with the second assisted by Joseph Postlehwait (So., Zanesville, OH/Lakota East). The Battlers answered with four goals to close the quarter.
The second was largely a stalemate until the final four minutes of the half when Nicholas Castorf (So., Holbrook, NY/Sachem) scored on an assist from Bryan Crim (So., Reading, PA/Exeter) with 3:53 left. Crim later scored with 23 seconds left to bring the Cavs within one at 5-4.
The third quarter went the exact opposite way for Walsh. AB scored three early goals en route to a 6-0 frame. The Battlers also scored the first goal of the fourth quarter for a 7-0 run.
Hudgens and Crim each had three goals with Hudgens added three assists. Crim added two assists. On the defensive end, Ryan Rafac (Fr., Toledo, OH/St. Johns) added five ground balls. Dylan Ciolino (So., Nesconset, NY/Sachem North) made eight saves on 28 shots faced.
The Cavs now turn attention to Seton Hill. They play in the Keystone State on Tuesday with a start time of 4 p.m.
