Box Score (VIENNA, W.Va.) – Despite being outshot by nearly 3-to-1, Walsh was able to make two of its shots count in a 2-0 victory over Ohio Valley on a rainy day in the Mountain State. Late game heroics served the Cavaliers (2-1) well once again as both goals against the Fighting Scots (2-2) came in the final 6:07 of play.
Lucas Dunlap (Sr., Coschocton, Ohio/HS) was the first to find the back of the net with his score in the 84th minute. With the Scots on the offensive, the Cavs' defense was to stave off a corner kick attempt and turn around and push the attack the opposite way. That's when Jordan Prescod (Fr., Mississauga, Ontario/St. Marcellinus) scored his second goal of the season with 82 seconds left to ice the game.
OVU kept the pressure on Walsh throughout the game and outshot the Cavaliers 31-13. Of those 31, nine were on target, but Tom Jackson (Fr., Sheffield, England/Dinnington) was able to come up with big saves each time. When Walsh took shots, the majority were on target with seven shots on goal.
The Scots gambled quite a bit in the game as they were called offsides five times. They also had more fouls in the game by an 18-7 count.
The Cavaliers now gear up for a big rivalry game on Monday night against Malone. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be the team's Jersey Roar game. All other Cavalier athletic teams are encouraged to attend wearing game jerseys or warmups.
