Box Score (UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich.) – The Walsh men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to No. 23 Saginaw Valley State on the road Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers fell to 5-10-1 overall on the season and 3-10-1 in the conference while the Cardinals improved to 13-3 overall and 11-3 in the GLIAC.
The Maroon and Gold appeared poised for the shutout upset after Jordan Prescod scored his third goal of the season with 59 seconds left in regulation, but the Cardinals' Andrew Dalou equalized just 24 seconds later to send the game into overtime.
After a scoreless first overtime, Dalou set up the golden goal for SVSU as Matt Wilson found the back of the net for his 12th goal of the season with 3:08 to go.
Despite the two goals, Tom Jackson had an impressive game between the pipes with his second consecutive game of 10 saves.
Walsh will now prepare for Ashland for its final home game of the season. Kickoff with the Eagles is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
