Men's Tennis Downed By Wayne State

(CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh fell to Wayne State as it resumed GLIAC action with a 7-2 loss at the Hall of Fame Courts on Saturday morning. It was the first GLIAC loss of the season for the Cavaliers (8-7, 2-1) while the Warriors (6-9, 1-0) were playing in their first conference match of the year.

The Cavs started behind early as they fell in all three doubles contests. Ross Whittaker and Vasiliy Vidmanov put forth a strong effort at No. 1 doubles, but fell in a close 8-6 decision to Taylor Vane and Clement Charriere.

Vidmanov recovered to secure one of the Cavaliers' two points in singles action with a win over Charriere at No. 2 singles. He took the first set 6-0 before a much closer 7-5 set for the win.

The other point came from Heitor Adegas at No. 6 singles against Derek Sammons. Adegas won the first set 7-6 with a 7-5 tiebreaker before a 6-3 win in the second set.

Walsh returns to action early Sunday morning with a match against Northwood at 8.
