Cavs Come From Behind For Win In Coach Hoggarth's Debut

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh men's soccer team defeated Ohio Valley University in its home opener Thursday night at Milazzo Field. In both teams' first game of the season, the Cavaliers edged out the Fighting Scots 2-1 in a thrilling night on the pitch.

The first goal of the game came at the 20:48 mark in the first half by the Fighting Scots as Romario Viveros netted the ball to the back of the net, assisted by Nicolas Rodriguez.

Walsh entered half-time down by one but came out in the second half strong. The Cavaliers netted two goals in the second half to rout OVU. Their first goal came unassisted from sophomore forward Dan Kenner in the early minutes of the second half. The third and final goal of the game was scored by Simon Miller with a pass from Ryan Baker. Walsh took the lead and held off OVU to start their season off with a win.

This was the Cavaliers' Head Coach Andy Hoggarth's coaching debut here at Walsh, beginning his time with a come-from-behind win to defeat the Fighting Scots.

Junior goalkeeper Jon-Paul Della Pia got the win in goal with three saves on 11 shots faced.

Walsh returns back at Milazzo Field in their next match Saturday when the take on rival Malone University at 7:30 p.m.
