Box Score (MARQUETTE, Mich.) – In its first trip to the Upper Peninsula, Walsh was defeated by Northern Michigan 5-2 in GLIAC action on Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers drop to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The Wildcats picked up their first win of the season and stand at 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the GLIAC.
The Cavaliers opened up the high scoring affair as Michael Saddler found the back of the net on a free kick in the seventh minute.
The Wildcats took control of the game shortly after with an equalizer in the 24th minute and the go-ahead score in the 34th.
After three more NMU goals, the Cavs capped the scoring as Bailey Moody scored off a corner kick taken by Ryan Baker.
Shots were nearly even as Walsh held a 21-20 advantage. Corner kicks were close as well, but with the 'Cats on the upper end of a 6-5 difference.
The Maroon and Gold returns home for two games this weekend with the first coming against Northwood. Kickoff with the Timberwolves is set for 7 p.m. on Friday.
