Box Score (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Saginaw Valley scored a goal in the 13th minute and made it hold up in a 1-0 decision against Walsh on Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers fell to 3-4-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals are now 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
The goal came from the Cardinals' Matt Wilson, the GLIAC leader in goals and points with seven and 18, respectively. Jordan Kalk assisted on the play.
Walsh had opportunities to score, but all four shots on target were saved. On the opposite end, Cavs goalkeeper Tom Jackson kept the Maroon and Gold in the game with three saves the rest of the way and faced 11 shots on the day.
Saginaw Valley controlled the tempo for most of the game and held an 11-2 advantage on corner kicks. The Cardinals were also called for two offsides.
The Cavs return to action for a midweek contest against rival Ashland which brought back its men's soccer program this season. Kickoff with the Eagles is set for 7 p.m.
