Men's Tennis Drill Oilers 9-0

(CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh men's tennis team ended the weekend on a high note as it cruised to a 9-0 shutout of visiting Findlay at the Hall of Fame Courts. The Cavaliers improved to 11-10 overall and 3-4 in the GLIAC. The Oilers dropped to 8-11 overall and 2-6 in the conference.

Vasily Vidmanov capped a perfect week as he defeated Oriol Ferrer 6-2, 6-7 (8-10), 10-8 at first singles. In doubles competition, he paired with Rodrigo Garcia at the second spot and together they defeated Nicholas Kopylec and Ivaylo Slavov 8-4.

Ross Whittaker and Felix Zimmermann had impressive days as they paired together at first doubles to defeat Ferrer and Carlos Blanco 8-3 Whittaker then went on to defeat Kopylec 6-2, 6-1 at second singles. Zimmermann followed suit with a defeat of Blanco with a pair of 6-1 sets.

Garcia took a 6-2, 7-5 win at fourth singles, Heitor Adegas defeated Sherwin Mirand 6-2, 6-2 at the five spot, and Jonah Carter took down Slavov 6-4, 6-2 at sixth singles.

In the final doubles spot, Carter paired with Tim Bruin to defeat Trevor Majdalani and Brad Strawser 8-2

The Cavaliers return to action and wrap up the GLIAC and home season next week with contests against Ferris State and Grand Valley State.
