Walsh Tripped Up By Findlay 5-4

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – In a nail-biter, Walsh fell to visiting Findlay by a score of 5-4 in G-MAC action on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the Klekotka Tennis Complex. The Cavaliers dropped to 5-8 overall and 0-2 in the conference, while the Oilers improved to 4-8 overall in what was their conference opener.

The Maroon and Gold held a 2-1 advantage after doubles play with wins in the first and third sections. Vasily Vidmanov and Rodrigo Garcia defeated Nicholas Kopylec and Clarlos Blanco 8-4 at the top spot. Clemens Wagner and Jonah Carter followed with an 8-4 win at thirds over Trevor Majdalani and Sergio Palacio as well.

The Cavs ran into trouble in the singles portion as Vidmanov was the only Walsh player to go perfect on the day. He defeated Kopylec a second time with a 6-4, 6-3 decision at first. Guilherme Carneiro put Walsh in contention with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Majdalani, but the Cavs fell in the rest of the singles contests.

The Cavs will be back in action this Saturday as they host the Senators from Davis & Elkins at 4 p.m.
