Box Score VIENNA, West Virginia - The Walsh Cavaliers men's soccer team returned to West Virginia on Saturday (Sept. 28) and rebounded after Thursday's loss with a 3-0 shutout of the Ohio Valley Fighting Scots.
Walsh improved to 6-1-1 on the season and 2-1-1 in the G-MAC. The Cavaliers snapped a three-game losing streak to Ohio Valley and gave Ohio Valley their first home loss since 9/22/18.
Ohio Valley outshot Walsh 7-5 in the first half but the game was deadlocked at zero through the first 45 minutes.
The game remained tied until the 65th minute when Walsh took a 1-0 lead on an own goal from the Fighting Scots. A deflected header on a Walsh cross entered the goal and the Cavaliers took a one goal lead.
Ten minutes later, Nathan Kett scored on an assist from Steven Taylor. In the 84th minute, Hayden Walbeck added a third goal on a corner kick from Taylor as Walsh won 3-0.
The Fighting Scots took 15 shots in the second half, winning the shot battle 22-10 but could not find the back of the net.
Ethan Burawa made four saves in his second shutout of the year.
Walsh will face #13 Lake Erie at home on Sunday (Oct. 6) at 3:00 PM.
