Cavaliers Set Program Record for Goals Scored

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers men's lacrosse team continued conference play with a flurry of goals as the Cavaliers defeated the Davis & Elkins Senators 29-6 on Wednesday (March 31) afternoon at Larry Staudt Field. 

The Cavaliers set a program record for goals scored as they totaled 29 in the contest, supassing the 27-goal output from April 6, 2019 against Davis & Elkins and last Saturday (March 20) against Alderson Broaddus. 

Walsh outscored the Senators 9-0 in the opening quarter with five different players scoring and four different players had assists on goals. 

The Cavaliers outscored D&E 6-4 in the second quarter as four players found the back of the net. The Cavaliers scored the first two goals before Davis & Elkins snapped an 11-0 run with two straight goals. Walsh added three straight goals before the Senators tallied two of the final three goals in the second quarter. Walsh led 15-4 at the break. 

Walsh scored in three pairs during the third quarter while outscoring the Senators 6-2 and holding a 21-6 lead after three quarters. 

  • McMahon counted for half of the goals with three and Dowling, Brown and Bowman adding more to their totals for the day
  • Bowman assisted on two of McMahon's goals with McMahon returning the favor for Bowman's goal in the third

A nine goal fourth quarter pushed the Cavaliers to a 2-0 start in conference play as they held Davis & Elkins scoreless over the final 18 minutes (Walsh used two 18 minute scoring droughts in the game from Davis & Elkins). Seven different players scored on four different assists.
