The Lakers scored four minutes into the first period with a goal by Devin Pipher. Marcus Brown of Walsh answered with an unassisted goal to tie the game 1-1.
Mercyhurst went on to score three straight goals before #34 Roman Smoot scored on an assist by Evan Bradley.
The Cavaliers struggled to find the back of the net for the remainder of the half as they trailed 7-1 heading into the third quarter.
Mercyhurst continued to prove dominant on the offensive end as they scored the first three goals of the third period.
Smoot cut the Laker lead to seven with a goal nine minutes into the third period, assisted by Brent Mitchell.
With three additional goals for Mercyhurst, Walsh trailed 13-3 at the start of the final period.
The Lakers extended their lead 18-3 with five goals to start the fourth period.
Sully Dowling scored his 15th goal of the season and the fourth on the day for Walsh. Senior Brent Mitchell scored back-to-back goals late in the fourth to make the score 19-6. Dowling scored again to make the final score 19-7.
