PHILIPPI, West Virginia - In the 2022 Great Midwest opener for the Walsh Cavaliers men's lacrosse team, a quick start paid dividends in a 15-4 win over the Alderson Broaddus Battlers on Sunday (March 20). 

• Score: Walsh 15, Alderson Broaddus 4
• Records: Walsh 2-4 (1-0), Alderson Broaddus 1-5 (0-1)
• Location: Multi-Sport Performance Stadium (Philippi, West Virginia)

Walsh scored three goals in each of the first two periods as they opened a 6-0 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, Walsh scored another six goals as they improved the lead to 12-2 before outscoring AB 3-2 in the final period. 

FOR THE CAVALIERS

• Three players totaled three goal games with Matthew Bagatta, Marcus Brown and Sully Dowling all scoring three goals and adding one assist. 
• Issac Stertz tallied two goals with three assists.
• Colby Bowman, Hudson Dennill, Preston Coffman and Calvin Cheney all scored once in the game. 
• Adam Tinline (one assist) and Tosh Pazuik (two assists) had points in the contest.
• Joseph Rush was 12 of 16 on faceoffs with seven groundballs. 
• Andrew Singer had six groundballs. 
• On defense, Walsh forced 16 turnovers as Mike Sawulak caused four of them and Coltin Wehr caused a pair of AB turnovers. 
• Patrick Cuddihy made seven saves on 19 shots with two goals allowed in 45 minutes. 

FOR THE BATTLERS

• Tanner Delorme scored twice for the Battlers as Kyle McFadden and Conner Calmbacher scored once each. 
• Braxton Roman assisted on two goals while Maguire Williard had one assist.

Walsh will travel to Lewis this Saturday for a non-conference matchup with the Flyers.
