Box Score ROMEOVILLE, Illinois - A big first half run by the Lewis Flyers proved to be too much for the Walsh Cavaliers men's lacrosse team as they fell 11-6 on Saturday (March 26) afternoon.
Lewis scored the first seven goals of the game before Walsh beat the first half buzzer on a goal by Colby Bowman. The Flyers led 7-1 at halftime and scored the first goal of the third quarter. Bowman scored on an assist from Issac Stertz four minutes into the quarter. Sully Dowling made it 8-3 Lewis with an unassisted goal with 1:15 left in the third. He scored again less than a minute into the fourth period for his second goal of the day. Lewis scored twice in five minutes, leading to Walsh scoring twice in two minutes with six minutes left. Stertz and Bowman tallied goals while Lewis closed out the scoring at 11-6.
Bowman scored three goals while Dowling totaled three points on two goals and one assist. Stertz had the other two points with a goal and assist each.
Nick Hauerstein and Joseph Rush had three groundballs each while four players had two groundballs apiece.
Patrick Cuddihy faced 21 shots with ten saves and seven groundballs on the day.
Walsh will continue conference play on April 5th with a home matchup with #7 Mercyhurst. The first faceoff is set for 7:00 PM.
