INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD KICKS OFF SEASON

FINDLAY, AKRON, AND YOUNGSTOWN, OH: December is here and so is the start of the 2023-2024 Indoor Track and Field season. In a season that ended very successfully at the Indoor National Championship last March, the team looks to build on that success this season. The meets kicked off at the 2023 Oiler Opener and Multi, Akron Haynes Lancaster Open, and Youngstown State Icebreaker. Claire Martin and Kya Epps headlined the weekend for the Maroon and Gold. Both took first place in two events each. Kya placed first in the 60m dash and the 200m dash and Claire took first in the long jump and triple jump. Nigel Cochran led the Men, finishing 3rd in the long jump. 

The season will continue this weekend as Walsh will head to Grand Valley State University for the Holiday Open and then to Mount Union for the Toy Drive Invitational. 

FOR THE CAVS AT AKRON
  • Kya Epps finished first in the 60m with a time of 7.56 seconds. She finished first in the 200m with a time of 24.70s. 
  • Claire Martin finished first in the long jump and triple jump. Her long jump distance was 5.57m and triple jump was 11.49m. Claire also finished 3rd in the 60m dash. 
  • Julie White finished 3rd in the 400 with a time of 1:01.52
  • Trevor Bean finished 3rd in the 400. His time was 50.51s.
  • Cameron Beverly finished 2nd in the high jump.
  • Nigel Cochran placed 3rd in the long jump and 2nd in the triple jump. 
  • Tatum Miller placed 2nd in the Women's Shot Put. 
  • Colton Ferrucci placed 4th in the Men's Weight Throw.
FOR THE CAVS AT FINDLAY
  • Toni Denmark finished 3rd in the Pentathlon high jump with a jump of 1.55m. 
  • Joel Brown finished 2nd overall in the Heptathlon. He placed first in 3 events.
