AKRON, OH: The Walsh Cavalier Track and Field program had their final regular season meet this past weekend. Competing at the Akron Tune Up, the Cavs continued their preparation for the conference meet. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship Meet is this coming weekend, at Ashland University.
Thrower,
Tatum Miller, headlined the success for Walsh as she improved her DII provisional mark with a throw of 18.79m in the weight throw. Her performance earned her second overall finish but moved her to 12th in the country in the respective event. Previously, her best throw was from December at 18.31m.
Two male throwers,
Akyus Richardson and Colton Ferruci, hit provisional marks; Richardson in the shot put and Ferrucci in the weight throw.
The DII leader in the heptathlon,
Joel Brown, competed in many events with strong performances including 1st in the 60m hurdles and 2nd in the long jump.
The Cavs will be back at the starting line this coming Friday and Saturday at the G-MAC meet.
