AKRON, OH: With the holiday's over and the new year many day's in, the Walsh Indoor Track and Field program anxiously returned to competition this past Friday. The Maroon and Gold competed in the Akron Al Campbell Invitational, held at the University of Akron. An array of teams from DI, DII, and DIII took to the starting line including fellow G-MAC opponents: Ashland, Hillsdale, Lake Erie, and Ursuline.
Seeing strong marks for the Cavs were throwers
Tatum Miller and
Akyus Richardson. Miller hit another NCAA provisional mark with a weight throw mark of 17.55m, earning her 8th place.
Akyus Richardson finished 2nd overall in the shot put with a mark of 15.84m. The Walsh Men's 4 x 400 relay team also had a strong performance finishing 2nd. The team consisted of
Carson Basham,
Tristan Swallen,
Quade Harris, and
Garrett Shook.
Both teams will return to the track this Saturday at the Ashland Invitational.
