ROMEOVILLE, IL: Cavalier Cross Country traveled a few states west to run in the NCAA DII Midwest Regional Championship, hosted at Lewis University. In anticipation for the race that determines who qualifies for the National Championship, the Maroon and Gold looked to run well and give themselves a chance when the National results are released on Monday.
In the Women's Race, the Cavs finished 4th out of 27 teams. The 2024 G-MAC Champions scored 185 points. Leading the pack was GVSU (20), Lewis (64), and Cedarville (146). Leading the team was
Alyssa Stoner with a 23rd place finish and earning All-Region honors.
For the Men, Walsh finished 7th out of 27 teams. GVSU and Lewis repeated their Women's team success, finishing 1st and 2nd. Also ahead of Walsh was Michigan Tech, SVSU, Findlay, and Drury.
Mitchel Dunham continued his strong season with an 18th place finish individually. This finish earned him All-Region honors.
The NCAA releases the National Qualifiers on Monday. The Cavaliers fate is to be determined.
