Box Score 4 MELBOURNE, FL: The Walsh Cavalier Softball team competed last week in the Space Coast Spring Games. Held in Melbourne, Florida, the Maroon and Gold faced tough Midwest region competition as well as top South region opponents. Over the week, Walsh faced Saginaw Valley, Ferris State, Holy Family, Davenport, Barry, University of Illinois Springfield and #15 Nova Southeastern. Maci Smythe dominated in the final three innings, walking none and only allowing four hits. This victory highlighted the dominant week for Smythe as she had a 0.25 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 27.2 innings pitched. To highlight another strong performance in the circle for Walsh was
Olivia Betson throwing a no-hitter vs Holy Family College in a 9-1 victory.
The Cavaliers will now move into conference play this weekend as they make the short trip to Painesville, Ohio to face Lake Erie College. The Sunday double header begins at 1pm.
