CAVS MOVE UP 5 SPOTS TO 15TH IN THE COUNTRY

2/3/2026 1:59:00 PM

NORTH CANTON, OH: The Walsh Cavalier Men's Basketball team jumped up 5 spots, to 15th, in the NABC DII Coaches Poll. 15th is the highest ranking for the Maroon and Gold in the NCAA era. The Men are currently 17-2 and 11-2 in the G-MAC.

After surviving a late push from Thomas More last Thursday, the Cavs then dominated Hillsdale on Saturday to get to their 17th win of the season including the 8th straight. The upcoming games this week are chalked up to be good ones as the Men will host Lake Erie and Northwood inside Alumni Arena. This will be the second time playing each team.

Back on December 4th, Walsh played at Lake Erie, earning a hard fought victory in overtime, 93-88. Tied up at 79 after 40 minutes, Walsh outscored the Storm 14-9 in OT to earn their first G-MAC win of the season. Fast forward to January 3rd when the Cavs played at Northwood, falling 80-75. The Cavaliers faced shooting woes in that contest going 7-26 from behind the arc and just 40.8% from the field. Five Timberwolves were in double digits, a highlight in which Walsh will look to diminish on Saturday.

The Maroon and Gold will continue to rely on the 10 deep rotation as the last month of the regular season is has arrived. On the offensive side of the court, Quintero Barnett leads with 15.1 points per game. Brayden Gross (13.2) and Matthew Biddell (11.1) are also averaging double digits. Gross and Zack Oddo are heavily relied upon on the boards while Barnett and Kobe Mitchell lead in steals.
