Box Score (DETROIT) – It took too long for Walsh to get started in the Motor City as Wayne State jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in 52-17 win over the Cavaliers. The Warriors (4-4, 3-4) scored the first 24 points of the game and kept the Cavs (2-6, 2-6) off the scoreboard until 25 seconds left in the first half when Michael Dudics kicked a 25-yard field goal.
After both teams exchanged punts to start the second half, the Warriors scored another touchdown to make it 31-3. Walsh finally found the end zone early in the fourth quarter when Jason Fracassa found Jerald Robinson on a 17-yard strike to make the score 31-10.
The Cavs' defense couldn't stop the Wayne State offense, however, as the hosts scored touchdowns on their next three drives. The latter two drives were started as a result of recovering Walsh fumbles.
Fracassa and Robinson connected again for the Cavs' final score. This time it was from 11-yards out with 2:35 left in the game to set up the final deficit.
The Wayne State offense was running on all cylinders today as it racked up 521 yards of total offense while Walsh managed 312 yards.
Fracassa, who came in midway through the first half, finished the game under center with 13 completions on 24 attempts for a 145 yards, a pair of touchdowns, and one interception. Aaron Male was the Cavaliers' leading rusher with 68 yards on 10 attempts. Defensively Pat White led the Cavs with seven tackles.
Walsh will be back on the road next week as it makes the long trek to the Upper Peninsula to battle Northern Michigan. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
