Box Score (CANTON, Ohio) Behind Jared Briguglio's 195 yards rushing, Northwood University (3-2, 2-2) handed Walsh (1-4, 1-4) its fourth straight loss 24-13 at Fawcett Stadium in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game. Walsh will look to snap the four-game skid at the University of Findlay next Saturday at noon. The game will be broadcast live on WNPQ FM, 95.9.
Walsh took its only lead of the game midway through the first quarter at 3-0 on a 38-yard Michael Dudics field goal.
Northwood would take advantage of Bryan Thomas' 46-yard return on the ensuing kick-off and set-up shop at the Walsh 43-yard line. The Timberwolves would then take a 7-3 lead on the 10-play, 43-yard drive when Mark Morris scored from one-yard out at 1:14 of the first quarter.
Northwood took a 14-3 lead with 2:44 to go in the half when Darian Nicholson caught a 40-yard strike from Miller on a second and nine play.
Jamaris Brown returned the ensuing kick-off 35 yards to the Cavs' 43-yard line to start the next possession. Walsh would drive to Northwood seven-yard line, but fail on third down and one and had to settle for a 24-yard field goal from Dudics, and trailed 14-6 at the half.
Briguglio scored the only TD of the third quarter on a 25-yard with 3:24 left to give the visitors a 21-6 lead.
Walsh scored early in the final period when Brody Tonn connected with Kalvin Gordon for a three-yard score to cut the lead to 21-13 with 14:57 to play.
Walsh's defense would get a couple of stops, but the offense could not convert. Northwood then drove 69 yards in 12 plays, and kicked a 20-yard field goal with 1:06 left to settle the issue.
Briguglio was basically the whole show offensively for Northwood, as he rushed for over 100 yards for the third time this season. Northwood has won each game he has turned the trick.
The Cavs compiled 125 yards on the ground, with Justin Keith rushing for 55 yards. Tonn was 21 of 29 for 176 yards. Jerald Robinson caught seven passes for 60 yards.
Cameron Trudell and Braily Blair paced the Cavs defensively with 12 and 10 tackles respectively. Blair also had two tackles for a loss. Brown also picked off his first pass of the season.
Walsh fumbled four times, losing two. The Cavs outgained Northwood 337 to 310.
