(SALEM, Va.) - Walsh (8-6) split games in the first day of the Salem  Tournament. After being blanked 4-0 by the University of California (Pa.), Walsh gained a split with a 5-0 win over Millersville University. The Cavs meet West Liberty at 9 am tomorrow.

Walsh scored a single run in the second inning, and then added two runs in the fifth and sixth innings in the 5-0 shutout of Millersville. Marissa Bondoni (So., Alliance, OH/HS) went the distance, fanning five and tossing a five-hitter to improve to 3-1. Eryn Simon (Sr., Oregon, OH/Clay) singled in two runs in the fifth to give the Cavs a 3-0 lead. Chesly Testa (Sr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) tripled in Anna Anderson (So., Wadsworth, OH/HS in the sixth to make it 4-0, and Testa then scored the final run on a ground ball. Simon, Anderson and Presley Destro (Jr., Mogadore, OH/HS/Catawba) each had two hits.
