Cavs Overpower Alderson-Broaddus

Box Score

(PHILIPPI, W.Va.) – Walsh University defeated Alderson-Broaddus by a score of 16-9 in a mutual conference opener Wednesday afternoon in the Mountain State. The Cavaliers are now 3-2 overall while the Battlers drop to 1-6 on the season.

The Cavs dominated most of the first half as they scored the first four goals of the game. Walsh's defense was also strong as it prevented A-B from lighting up the scoreboard until 10 minutes left in the first half.

The Battlers eventually lived up to their name and gained the lead at 7-6 after four consecutive goals to start the second half. However Walsh returned the favor by blitzing the A-B defense with seven-straight goals of its own to take control of the game with a 13-7 lead. Brianna Moss (Fr., Brunswick, OH/HS) and Steffi Zepp (Fr., Dublin, OH/Coffman) led the charge with two goals each during the offensive explosion.

Zepp joined Maria Nobile (Fr., Westerville, OH/Olentangy Orange) as the leading scorer in the game with four goals and an assist for five points. Tia Tyler (So., Columbus, OH/St. Francis DeSales) picked up the win between the pipes with seven saves.

Walsh returns to action in a GLIAC game against Ursuline. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Pepper Pike, but was moved to North Canton. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
