(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh picked up its second consecutive win with a 17-6 decision over visiting Hiram at Vasco Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Cavaliers are now 2-2 on the season while the Terriers drop to 1-3 on the campaign.

The Cavs' offense started off hot with 10 of the first 13 goals scored in the game to take control of the contest. Sarah McCormick (Fr., Canton, OH/Jackson) and Emma Armour (Fr., Charlotte, NC/Charlotte Catholic) scored the first two goals unassisted for Walsh to put the hosts up 2-0 just over four minutes into the game. Maria Nobile (So., Westerville, OH/Olentangy Orange) then added a free position goal before the Terriers scored two in similar fashion to get back in the game.

McCormick put a stop to Hiram's short run with a goal on an assist by Nobile. That, coupled with a goal by Steffi Zepp (So., Dublin, OH/Coffman) down a player, sparked a 5-0 run that would give the Cavs as many goals as they needed for the victory.

By halftime, Walsh led 13-5 and outscored the Terriers 4-1 in the second half.

Nobile had one of the finest games of her career with five goals with seven shots on target. She also added five ground balls, three draw controls, and three caused turnover to help give the Cavs offensive control through the game.

McCormick also had an impressive game with four goals, three ground balls, and four draw controls. Defensively, Zepp led the team with six ground balls and four caused turnovers. She also added three draw controls.

Tia Tyler (Jr., Columbus, OH/St. Francis DeSales) made seven saves on 19 shots faced as she evened up her record this season.

The Cavs are back in action this weekend as they head to the Mountain State to take on West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon. First draw is scheduled for 1 p.m.
