Box Score (BEREA, Ohio) – Baldwin Wallace pulled away late in the first half and went on to defeat Walsh by a count of 11-5 at George Finnie Field on Tuesday evening. The Cavaliers are now 2-4 after the non-conference loss while the Bees improved to 3-2.
BW opened up the game with a pair of goals in 44 seconds just a few minutes after the start. The two teams exchanged goals before the Cavs came back and tied the game at 3-3 after Lane Brunkala (Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) scored on a free position shot and Maria Nobile (So., Westerville, OH/Olentangy Orange) scored thanks to an assist from Aly Jajack (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover).
The Cavs' offense stalled out there as the Bees scored five consecutive goals to close out the half. Overall, it was a part of a 7-0 run that Walsh finally ended on an unassisted score from Steffi Zepp (So., Dublin, OH/Coffman) that made the score 10-4 with 23:52 left in the game. Unfortunately for the Cavs, that was their final goal until the last minute when Zepp scored again on a free position shot.
Tia Tyler (Jr., Columbus, OH/St. Francis DeSales) reached double digits in saves with 13. She faced 39 shots on the night.
Zepp led the team offensively with a pair of goals. Nobile tallied three ground balls and five draw controls to help Walsh on possession.
Walsh returns to action on Friday as it squares off against Calvin. First draw is set for 5 p.m.
