Box Score 1 (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) Walsh (6-4, 1-1) played for the first time since March 4, and split a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference double header with Grand Valley State University (16-1, 2-1) today. Walsh took the opener 4-0, but fell 1-0 in the nightcap. The Cavs are home to Ferris State University for a GLIAC twinbill at 12 pm tomorrow.
Walsh scored three runs in the second inning of the opener, and it was all that starter Casi Rohr (Sr., Massillon, OH / Perry) needed in the 4-0 win. Rohr flirted with a no-hitter, allowing only two singles, with the first hit coming with sixth inning. Rohr fanned eight and did not walk a batter in facing just three batters over the limit.
Reagan Rito (So., Beloit, OH / West Branch) opened the Walsh second inning with a walk, and advanced to second on Annie Woolf's (Fr., Louisville, OH / HS) single to center. Anna Fach (Sr., Massillon, OH / Perry) then advanced the runner to second and third base with a sacrifice bunt, and Riot scored the games' first run on Anna Anderson's (Jr., Wadsworth, OH / HS) bad hop single to second. Anderson then stole second base and scored along with Woolf on Sam Troxell's (sr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH / HS) double to left.
Walsh added an insurance run in the sixth on Jenna Head's (So., Mantua, OH / Crestwood) two-out single to center with scored Nikki Newman (So., North Royalton, OH / HS).
Rohr (4-3) also went the distance in the nightcap, allowing just five singles. GVSU scored the winning run with one out in the bottom of the seventh.
