In a battle of aces in game one, Wayne State's Lyndsay Butler (13-6) bested Walsh's Casi Rohr (Sr., Massillon, OH / Perry) 4-0. The loss drops Rohr to 9-4. The Warriors scored two runs in the second and fifth innings. Butler limited the Cavs to three hits.
Butler earned the save in the nightcap working the final 2.2 innings. WSU scored two runs in the first inning against Walsh starter, and loser, Olivia Pifer (Fr., Loveland, OH / HS). After trailing 3-0, Walsh cut the lead to 3-2 with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Wayne State would settle the issue with a run in the sixth and two in the seventh. Walsh managed just four hits. Nikki Newman (So., North Royalton, OH / HS) and Danni Murtaugh (Fr., Dover, OH / HS) each drove in a run.
