(FINDLAY, Ohio) – The season came to a close in heartbreaking fashion for Walsh as it fell 2-1 in 10 innings against Saginaw Valley in an elimination game Saturday at Anderson Field. The No. 3 Cardinals' (30-18) advance in the consolation bracket to play No. 2 Ashland. The No. 5 Cavaliers finish at 23-16.

The walk-off happened with two outs in the 10th when Madison Burgess singled to center to score Meredith Rousse. Anna Anderson (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) appeared to make a diving catch for the third out, but the umpires ruled the ball hit the ground to send the Cardinals into a celebration.

Walsh scored the game's first run when Marissa Bondoni (Jr., Alliance, OH/HS) doubled to right center to score Nikki Newman (So., North Royalton, OH/HS) in the top of the third. SVSU knotted things up when Marcy Medina hit a short dribbler just in front of the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth. Casi Rohr (Sr., Massillon, OH/Perry) made a play on the ball, but the throw to first was just a step late.

Rohr pitched another strong game, her third in two days, as she gave up just the two runs on nine hits in 9.2 innings. The All-GLIAC First Team selection struck out nine, four looking, with six walks. She ends the year at 17-10.

Both teams had opportunities throughout the game to score more runs as Walsh left 11 runners on base to the Cardinals' 12. The Cavs were 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and 0-for-4 with the bases loaded. By contrast, SVSU was 2-for-15 and 1-for-3 in the same categories, respectively.
