Box Score (ROSEMONT, Ill.) – The Walsh softball team was shutout in its final game at the Rosemont Invitational with a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Illinois Springfield. The Cavaliers went 3-2 on the season opening weekend while the Prairie Stars improved to 4-10.
The Cavs gave up single runs in the first three frames and two more in the fifth. The Walsh bats were stifled as only Jenna Head and Anna Anderson generated hits.
Starter Olivia Pifer took the loss after she gave up two runs on four hits with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work. Ryan Kuula came on in relief and added three more strikeouts.
The Cavaliers will return to action a week from today when they head south for spring break in the Sunshine State. Walsh will play Quincy to open up before closing the day with Southern Indiana. All games are scheduled to be played in Clermont, Florida.
