Cavs Win In Another Wild 2OT Finish

Box Score

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – For the second game in a row, Walsh needed two overtimes. For the second game in a row, it ended up on the positive end of the scoreboard in another thrilling victory.

As exciting as last week's win against Roberts Wesleyan was, today's game ranks up there with one of the best wins in program history as the Cavaliers (2-3) came from five goals down to defeat Tusculum (1-4) 10-9 in another double-overtime thriller.

This time the game-winning goal came from the Cavs' leading scorer Bryan Crim just 1:03 into the second extra period. It was his game-high fourth goal of the game and 17th of the season.

The goal capped off an incredible second half that was dominated by the Cavaliers as much as Tusculum held the advantage in the first.

The Pioneers went up 4-0 in the first quarter and shut out Walsh 3-0 in the second to carry a 7-2 lead into halftime. After the teams exchanged goals to start the third quarter, Alex Hudgens scored with 9:55 left in the third to start a 5-0 to tie the game at 8-8.

Walsh took advantage of Pioneer penalties as Ryan Martin and Bryan Crim both scored on man-up opportunities before Brydan Heisler tied the game with 13:41 to go in the game. Tusculum's Keegan Bell scored three minutes later to put the Pioneers back up one, but Martin needed just 30 seconds to equalize thanks to Hudgens' fourth assist of the game.

Defensive play then picked up for both teams as 15 minutes went by until Crim's golden goal. Walsh had offensive opportunities with 11 shots during that stretch, but only two were on target. Tusculum had four shots during that time as one hit the post in the fourth quarter and saves on two others by goalkeeper Dylan Ciolino, one of which came with four seconds left in the first overtime.

Ciolino was solid between the pipes once again with eight saves on 33 shots faced.

Ryan Rafac had one of his best games in the circle as he won 15-of-23 face-offs. He also led both sides with 12 ground balls. In addition to Crim, Martin also had a multiple goal game and finished with three. He now has eight on the season.

Walsh continues its four-game home stand as it welcomes North Greenville on Saturday. Face-off is scheduled for noon.
