(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Walsh split a mid-week GLIAC doubleheader at Lake Erie with a 3-0 win in game one and an 11-1 loss in game two Tuesday afternoon. The Cavaliers are now 11-16 on the season with a 2-4 conference mark. The Storm move to 9-13 on the year and 1-5 in the GLIAC.

In the opening game, Olivia Pifer pitched a gem with a four-hit shutout of the Storm. She struck out five and walked just one as she went the distance. She improved to 7-7 on the season with the win.

Walsh scored its first run in the third after Alaina Manor scored on a passed ball. She originally reached base on a liner down to right field for a triple.

The Maroon and Gold added two more when Anna Anderson doubled to center to bring in Rebekah Hoffee Abby Reusser in the next frame. Annie Woolf led off the inning with a single through the left side before Hoffee came in as a pinch runner. Reusser reached two batters later on a single up the middle that put Reusser on third.

The second game went the way of the storm as it jumped out to an 8-0 lead with a seven-run fourth inning. The Cavaliers scored in the bottom of the fifth when Nikki Newman touched home plate on a wild pitch to help extend the game. Walsh's chance at a rally ended in the sixth when it left two runners stranded.

The Cavaliers return to action this weekend as they start an eight-game home stand. First up on the docket will be the Hillsdale Chargers. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
