Florida Southern Too Much For Cavs

(LAKELAND, Fla.) – The Walsh men's tennis team fell to hosting Florida Southern by an 8-1 count at the Warden Tennis Center on Tuesday. The Cavaliers fall to 4-4 with the defeat while the Mocs improved to 6-3.

The Cavaliers' lone point came at No. 2 doubles as Pablo Cabezon and Carlos Jaque defeated Miguel Alvarez-Hevia and Arthur Viallaneix by an 8-6 count to even the match at 1-1. Despite close sets in other pairings, Walsh was unable to score another point.

Jaque was close to forcing a third set at No. 5 singles, but  fell 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) to Oscar Soderlund. Vasiliy Vidmanov did go three sets, but lost 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.

The Cavaliers are off tomorrow, but will return to action on Thursday against Florida Tech at Melbourne, Fla., with a scheduled start time of 9:30 a.m.
