Softball Swept By Charleston, Trevecca Nazarene

(CLERMONT, Fla.) – Walsh was swept in a pair of games in Florida as the Cavaliers fell to Charleson (W.Va.) 2-1 before they were defeated by future conference foe Trevecca Nazarene 8-0 in six innings Tuesday afternoon.

The Cavaliers are now 4-7 on the year. The Golden Eagles improved to 8-2 and the Trojans improved to 8-10.

The Cavaliers initially took the lead against Charleston as Alaina Manor led off the bottom of the third with a triple and scored on the next play on an error by the Eagles' shortstop. Charleston tied the game in the top of fourth with a home run and took the lead in the next inning on a sacrifice bunt that scored a runner from third.

The Walsh bats were quiet in the second game as the Cavs only generated three hits in the shutout. Anna Anderson nailed a double in the top of the fifth and advanced to third on a passed ball, but Walsh couldn't capitalize as she was left stranded.

Olivia Pifer took the loss in game on to fall to 3-4 on the season. She went the distance, gave up just five hits, and struck out four with one walk. Ryan Kuula took the loss in the bottom end of the twin bill. She also struck out five on the day.

Walsh will have a day off on Wednesday before they resume action in another twin bill on Thursday. The Cavs will do battle with former and future conference foe Cedarville at 1 p.m. before capping off the day with Mount Olive at 3.
