Box Score 1 (ASHLAND, Ohio) – Walsh was swept by Ashland in GLIAC softball action by scores of 5-2 and 10-0 in five innings on Wednesday afternoon at Brookside Park. The Cavaliers fell to 15-20 overall and 6-8 in the conference while the Eagles improved to 19-16 overall and 9-5 in the GLIAC.
The Cavs went down 5-0 after three innings in the opening game and attempted to rally, but were only able to come up with solo runs in the sixth and seventh.
Kendra Moore drove in the first run as Abby Reusser scored on a double to right center in the sixth. In the seventh, Alaina Manor scored after Mariah Rock reached on an error.
In the second game, Ashland jumped out to an early lead again with eight runs in the first three innings. The Eagles added solo insurance runs in the fourth and fifth.
The Cavaliers will attempt to rebound and get back in the win column tomorrow in a doubleheader against rival Malone. It will serve as Walsh's Senior Day. It will also serve as the team's Jersey Roar event and Dollar Dog Day. First pitch with the Pioneers is set for 3 p.m.
