Bearcats Take Down Cavaliers

(LEBANON, Ill.) – The Walsh women's lacrosse team battled with McKendree for most of the first half, but eventually fell by a score of 16-7 at Leemon Field in GLIAC play Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers fell to 3-9 overall and 0-9 in the conference. The Bearcats improved to 8-6 overall and 6-3 in the GLIAC.

The Cavaliers scored the opening goal as Aly Jajack took an assist from Emma Armour 6:08 into the contest. McKendree scored the next three goals to go up two before Maria Nobile scored to make it 3-2 midway through the half.

The Bearcats and Cavaliers evenly exchanged the next four goals with Jajack scoring on a free position shot and Nobile scoring on an assist from Jajack to make the score 5-4. The Bearcats proceeded to take control of the game with a 6-0 run that stretched into the second half.

Walsh's next score came from Nobile with 13:23 left in the contest to make the score 11-5, but McKendree answered with another 3-0 run.

Mikaela Faus made 15 saves on 41 shots faced between the pipes. She also added 12 ground balls. Nobile finished the game with four goals to pace the offense.

The Cavaliers now return home for a four-game home stand. Walsh will host Urbana for the first game in that string. The Cavs will take on the Blue Knights Tuesday at 5 p.m.
