(HOUGHTON, Mich.) – Walsh fell to Michigan Tech by a score of 33-7 in the season opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Sherman Field. It was the first meeting between the two teams since 2013.

The Cavaliers' lone score came in the fourth quarter when Aaron Male crossed the goal line on a three-yard run to cap a 10-play, 45-yard drive with 5:54 remaining in regulation.

The Huskies opened the scoring with a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter and added a pair of field goals in the second to take a 20-0 lead into the locker room at the half. They added another couple of touchdowns in the third.

The Walsh offense struggled as it was limited to 146 yards on the afternoon. The majority of that came through the air as Reid Worstell was 18-of-26 for 111 yards. His favorite target was Jeremy Willison who had five receptions for 33 yards.

Defensively Seamus O'Sullivan led the Cavaliers with nine tackles. Lashay Whitmore and Nick King each added seven.

The Cavs will look to rebound in Week 2 as they travel to Hillsdale. Kickoff with the Chargers is set for 7 p.m.
