Tusculum Too Tough For Cavaliers

(GREENEVILLE, Tenn.) – The Walsh men's lacrosse team dropped its first road contest of the season by a score of 13-9 to Tusculum at Pioneer Field on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers dropped to 0-2 on the year while the Pioneers improved to 3-1.

Tusculum used a 5-0 run at the end of the second quarter and the start of the third to take control of the game with an 8-4 lead and hold off Walsh's comeback attempt. Kevin MchMahon, Bryan Crim, and Alex Hudgens all scored consecutive goals to give Walsh a 4-3 lead before that run.

Overall the contest was well balanced. Walsh held a 38-33 advantage in ground balls with every other stat category closer in separation.

Walsh's offense was balanced as well with eight different players scoring goals. Hudgens was the only Cavalier to score two goals. Crim and Frank Savena both added a goal and an assist.

Ryan Rafact was 10-of-22 on faceoff attempts with Andrew Lawton winning three of the four opportunities taken in midfield.

The Cavaliers are off until a midweek Spring Break contest at Pfeiffer on Wednesday, March 8. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
