Men's Tennis Sinks Lake Superior State 6-3

(SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.) – It was a perfect weekend in the Upper Peninsula for the Walsh men's tennis team as it defeated Lake Superior State 6-3 on Sunday. The Cavaliers are now 10-6 overall after winning their fourth-straight and 2-0 in the GLIAC. The Lakers dropped to 6-6 overall and 0-2 in the GLIAC.

The Cavaliers took the early advantage with two wins in the doubles portion of the contest. Ross Whittaker and Felix Zimmerman defeated the duo of Jake Prime and Luis Valderrama by a score of 8-4 at the top spot. Jonah Carter and Tim Bruin edged out Hunter Koster and Stephen Prica 9-7 at thirds for the 2-1 edge.

Carter was the lone competitor to go perfect on the day as he defeated Peter Summers 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Vasily Vidmanov took a 6-1, 7-6 (9-7) victory at first singles. Rodrigo Garcia also needed three sets, but also got the win at fourth singles 6-1, 2-6, 7-5. Heitor Adegas provided the final point at fifth singles 6-3, 6-4.

The Maroon and Gold will return to action next weekend with another road trip to Michigan. First up on the slate is a visit to the Motor City to take on Wayne State on Saturday at 10 a.m.
