Box Score 1

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh softball team battled Wayne State tough in a pair of games, but was unable to come out with a win with defeats by scores of 2-0 and 3-1 on Saturday. The Cavaliers are now 9-26 on the season and 1-11 in the GLIAC, while the Warriors are 30-10 overall and 9-5 in the conference.

In the opener, Wayne State limited the Cavaliers' opportunities while it scored solo runs in the second and the sixth. Olivia Pifer gave a solid effort in the complete game and allowed the Warriors only six hits in the game.

In the second game, Kirsten Reed broke up a no-hitter in the bottom of the seventh with a long shot that bounced off the fence in center field. Abbey Yaugher followed with a single to left center to bring in Reed.

Kendra Moore then walked to put the go-ahead run at the plate, but the Cavaliers were retired to end the game.

The Maroon and Gold will return to action tomorrow with a doubleheader against Hillsdale.
