Walsh Looks To Even Record, Series vs. Saginaw Valley

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh will head up to Michigan once again to take on a somewhat familiar opponent in Saginaw Valley State for Week 2 on Saturday afternoon. Even though the Cardinals (1-0) are a long-time GLIAC member, the Cavaliers (0-1) have only played them once.

Last year both teams met for the first time with Saginaw Valley taking a 27-17 victory in Walsh's home opener at North Canton Memorial Stadium. The teams were tied at 10-10 at halftime before the Cardinals outscored Walsh 17-7 in the second half. Walsh was within three points and driving late in the game before Saginaw Valley secured the win with a 65-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

The Cavaliers will be looking to even the series after showing improvements throughout last week's game against Wayne State. Walsh fell to the Warriors 28-9, but showed promise by shutting out Wayne State in the second half.

Saginaw Valley defeated G-MAC member Alderson Broaddus by a score of 42-24 in Philippi, W.Va., last week. The Cardinals outscored the Battlers by 18 points over the second and third quarters to head on to the win.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. Media coverage will be provided by Saginaw Valley via Stretch Internet.
