Men's & Women's Track Compete At YSU Icebreaker

(YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio) - The Walsh University Men's & Women's Track teams competed at the Youngstown State Icebreaker event held at the Watts and Tressel Training site.

Coming off successful Cross Country seasons, Coy & Turner kept it rolling at YSU. In the Women's 5000 Meter run, Brianna Coy ran a provo mark of 17:17 to earn her a strong second place finish in the event. On the Men's side, Senior Jacob Turner placed 6th overall in the 5000m with a time of 15:19.

In the Women's 800m, Megan Soehnlen safely locked down 7th place with a race time of 2:20.7. Josh Conrad held his own in the men's 800m cruising into 4th place at 1:55.55.  In the 20th event of the day, Lane Knoch was able to bring home 6th place for the Cavaliers in the 60m hurdles with a race time of 8.36.

The Walsh Women took charge in the Weight Throw! Malia Turley placed 4th for the Cavaliers with a throw of 16.43m. Mariah Porter locked down 7th place with a throw of 15.83m. Rounding out this trio was Senior Payton Breehl who placed 8th overall with a throw of 14.85m. 

The duo of Miller and Penza both hit their Provo in Men's shot. Junior James Miller landed himself in 5th place with a 16.19m throw. Right behind Miller, was Junior Dante Penza in 6th place with a 16.16m throw for the Cavs.

The Maroon and Gold will hit the road again after the first of year at the YSU Invitational January 18th.
