Walsh Rolls Over Davis & Elkins To Remain Unbeaten In G-MAC

Box Score

(ELKINS, W.Va.) – The win streak continued as Walsh remained unbeaten in G-MAC play with a decisive 17-5 victory over Davis & Elkins on Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers (5-2, 4-0) have now won their last five with the win over the Senators (0-3, 0-2).

The Maroon and Gold never trailed in the game and jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to goals by Emma Armour, Kendra Cowen-Tripp and Becky Parker. Davis & Elkins was able to get back into the game with two of the next three goals the make the score 4-2 midway through the first half, but the Cavs' offense jump-started and closed the frame with the final eight goals.

That run increased even more in the second half to 12-0 with the first four goals. The Senators were able to add three-straight scores, but by that time the Cavs were well in control.

The Walsh attack was well-balanced as six different players scored multiple goals. Lane Brunkala led the way with four goals and an assist for five points. Armour also had a five-point day with two goals and three assists.

Alyssa Tomkins recorded her first hat trick of her career, while Skylar Crandell also had three points on two goals and an assist. Jenny Spragg was the final player in the aforementioned group with two goals.

Defensively Mikaela Faus recorded the win in goal after she started the game and made three saves on six shots faced. Rebecca Tomaszewski played the second half and recorded four saves on eight shots faced.

Walsh returns to action in an important G-MAC game against Lake Erie on Thursday. The Cavaliers and Storm are the only two unbeaten teams left in conference play as Lake Erie holds a 2-0 league mark with wins over Ohio Valley and Findlay. The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
