(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – A record-breaking season came to a close as Walsh fell to Findlay 18-5 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium on Thursday afternoon. The No. 3 Cavaliers (11-7) battled the No. 2 Oilers (15-3) well early on, but eventually succumbed to the high-powered Findlay attack.

The Oilers opened the game with a pair of early goals before the Cavaliers appeared to switch the momentum tide with a goal by Jenny Spragg with 26:17 to go in the first half. The goal, assisted by Emma Armour, came just 24 seconds after Findlay's second goal.

The score remained locked up at 2-1 until Armour tied the game on an assist from Sarah McCormick with 22:18 to go in the half. Walsh then took advantage of a yellow card on the Oilers and a foul inside the eight meters as Becky Parker scored on the free-position for the player-up goal and a 3-2 lead just over 10 minutes into the game.

Walsh held onto the lead for the next six minutes as goalkeeper Mikaela Faus came up with three big saves before Findlay eventually tied the game on a free-position shot of its own.

From there, the Oilers closed the half on a 6-0 run and added two more to start the second half before McCormick broke the run on a free-position shot 10 minutes into the period. Findlay added two more goals before Spragg tallied the final goal with 16:36 to go in the game.

Faus finished the game with an impressive 13 saves before Rebecca Tomaszewski entered and made two more on the day.

The 11 wins are the most in the Cavaliers' short program history. This was also the Cavaliers' second playoff in program history.
